Bhubaneswar:17/6-Amarendra Satapathy, Sub Inspector (SI) of Excise, In- charge of Tangi Excise Station, Dist-Khordha has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe amount of Rs. 8,000/- from a licenced liquor vendor (Complainant) in lieu of not initiating any case against him and allowing him to run his business smoothly. Sri Satapathy, SI of Excise demanded Rs.8,000/- every month as monthly bribe from the above Vendor, and was threatening to initiate action if the same was not paid.
On this, the vendor(complt) approached the Vigilance authorities narrating the harassment in his licenced business by Sri Satapathy, SI of Excise. Following this, a Vigilance team nabbed Sri Satapathy today, while taking bribe Rs.8,000/- from the complt. *The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused SI of Excise, Sri Satapathy and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations linked to Sri Satapathy from DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 11/2025, U/s 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against accused Sri Amarendra Satapathy, SI, in charge of Tangi Excise Station. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Satapathy. Detailed report follows.
